Pre-Cursillo

AN INVITATION…

To be an informed Christian.
To be an effective Christian.
To put Christ in the center of your world.
To go forth and proclaim the Gospel.

The Spanish word “Cursillo” (cur-SEE-oh) means, “Little Course”. The Cursillo is a “little course in Christianity”. It is an encounter with Christ in a small community of the Church so that His love and grace can be brought to every aspect of life.

The Cursillo Movement helps us approach evangelization as a very natural act of being Christ-like within our daily activities. We realize that while most people would like to live their lives in a Christ-like manner, the pressures of the world often make this difficult. The Cursillo Movement provides a method and a technique to provide each of us with the tools, the mindset, the strength, and the support to make this natural type of evangelization possible.

THREE DAYS

It begins with a three-day experience with daily mass, communion, and visits to the Blessed Sacrament.

It starts on Thursday evening and ends Sunday evening. During those three days the attendees, who are called “cursillistas” (cur-see-YIS-tas) live, learn and worship together, attended and nurtured by members of the greater Cursillo community.

Priests and laypersons share themed talks, called “rollos” (ROY-ohs) with attendees, who then participate in small group discussions to delve deeper into the themes of each talk.

The talks include topics which deal with life, the Christian ideal, the Catholic faith and a method to bring Christ into the modern world.

INTERESTED IN ATTENDING A WEEKEND?

You will need a Sponsor (someone who has previously attended a Cursillo Weekend, and/or has been actively involved in the Cursillo movement).

Talk to your Sponsor about the Cursillo Weekend. There are no secrets, but there are things we refrain from talking about so that you can openly enjoy the weekend without higher expectations. Ask your potential Sponsor or someone you know who has attended a Cursillo Weekend to take you to an Ultreya. This will give you some of the flavors of a weekend.

With the help of your Sponsor, you will need to complete and submit your an application for the Cursillo Weekend.

NEED HELP FINDING A SPONSOR?

Start within your parish by asking your parish priest about the Cursillo Movement. Contact us if you still need help identifying a sponsor in your area.
